AGM 2001

2001 AGM, Prizegiving and Silly Rally

On the last club night of the racing season the members meet for the Annual General Meeting. They discuss changes to the club rules, elect club officials, receive awards for their successes in the Club Championships, but most importantly see in the coming festive season with some very different racing.

This takes the form of a Silly Rally with a concours and race for cars with totally illegal and "silly" bodies. Any entry deemed to be legal under BSCRA rules is disqualified!.

This years Silly concours was won by Nigel Gates' Christmas Pud Racer but it failed to negotiate even one lap of the track at racing speed due to it's high centre of gravity and alcohol content!

Races were also run with the club's 1/24 cars (definitely a contact sport!) and trailers which had more in common with "Ben Hur" than "Grand Prix"!

The following pics prove that we take our sport very seriously even when we're having fun.

At the end of the evening all racers get to choose a Silly prize from the pile brought by competing members. These can range from the humorous to the very bizarre!
