This is the new track design chosen by the members from six shortlisted designs.
Lap length should be around 38 metres (125 feet in old money!) with 4 lanes at 100mm spacing, hopefully allowing 1/24 scale racing . The pick up tape will be braid (already purchased and over 300 metres in total) but we still have to decide on the road surface colour and lane ID. Five marshals will be minimum for this track with race control placed to sort out any trouble on the top of the main straight, if a sixth marshal is not available.
The ones that got away!
The design below was sketched in response to a challenge to exceed 160 ft lap length. Although it was never intended as a serious design it would be possible to build but probably hell to drive and marshal, not too dissimilar to the old Presto Park monster!
This design was in the running, one of the final six. Dotted line shows alternative corner to reduce the marshalling needs. Could probably get away with 4 marshals on this one, but five would be ideal.
Another good one, 120 feet plus.
